The Asia MMA Summit 2013

ONE FC Asia MMA Summit 2013

After coming back from the Asia MMA Summit 2013 that happened in Singapore, I got really excited for the plans in stored for the MMA industry in the Asian region. Looking how strong One FC is in this region and an article about how One FC is comparable to UFC, being the power in the East vs the UFC, the power in the west, it would be an interesting years to come for the MMA industry. One FC is looking to standardize things through their aid of personal trainers which they would fly around the region. There are a lot of good things happening in the industry and it is starting to boom especially under the watchful eyes of One FC and its wonderful team lead by Victor Cui, the CEO of One FC.

Now what to look forward to in the Summit would be speeches by some veterans in the industry brought over from the United States who has a lot of experience in UFC as well as people of the media from various media. There was also a speech that many were looking forward to. Now who could say no to the sharing by Bruce Lee’s younger brother, Robert Lee and his elder sister, Phoebe Lee. They had a great time sharing stories about their beloved brother.

Now to get to the Summit, on the first day we arrive, we went for a cocktail party, of which I would not have pictures to, because it was merely a socializing event to mingle with the fighters and the various important people who has vested interest in One FC and its undertakings.

So on the second day, which was a full day event, running from morning till evening, the hall was packed with people to a point that they needed to bring in extra chairs.

The Hall, that was pack to the brim with people. They were an awesome crowd of fighters and gym owners and people from the media as well as some fantastic speakers for the event. 20130506-095602.jpg

One of the sponsors of the Summit. I kinda lost this wrist band that actually contains a discount code for the subscription of this magazine.

The opening speech by Victor Cui was a strong one to start out the day. He certainly is a strong man, with a very solid vision of where he wants his baby, One FC to be, the one true power to rival that of the UFC. He has certainly gave me an idea on what One FC is truly aiming for and making listing out briefly what would be done towards

Here are a few of the more prominent speakers of the day, and they were really good in their speeches and they were funny too.

20130506-095619.jpg

Renzo Gracie, a truly funny guy, who is a MMA trainer and gym owner.

20130506-095646.jpg

Rich Franklin, whom many says looks like Jim Carrey, and I have to agree. A secret speaker, who was actually a real teacher before he quit to do MMA full time. And to note, it was not an overnight decision, it was a decision made over a period of many many years~!

20130506-095707.jpg

This man needs no introduction, Jason Lo, the man of Tune Talk who is really into MMA and has invested time and money in creating their own Amateur League, under MIMMA.He was certainly funny and charismatic in his own unique manner. Awesome guy indeed.

20130506-095721.jpg

Mark Raimondi from New York Post for his section on MMA as a sport. Giving insight on the MMA scene in the United States.

20130506-095740.jpg

John Vamvakitis, the man from YouTube Sports who shed light about the position of YouTube in airing sports related news and events.

Now not forgetting the highly anticipated speaker, Robert Lee.

20130506-095810.jpg

I was amazed by how well he spoke and how well he was able to describe how his brother was in his life.

20130506-095820.jpg

Robert trying to show what he was taught by his dear brother to the current MMA fighters.

Now moving to  Phoebe Lee, Bruce Lee’s elder sister. She shed light on how her brother was when he was a young boy and always keep on stating that he had a really kind heart. It was heart warming to hear her share her story about her brother because she had difficulty in speaking in English, but, I have to say she fared very well.

A short media Q&A session for both Robert and Phoebe Lee about their brother.

And that was the end for the first and very eventful day.

I had not recorded the second day with my iPad and of course there won’t be any pictures of the second day from me.

All I could say that, it was an awesome 3 days event with the event well organized, despite a few hiccups that was quickly sorted out.

I had to say, I fully enjoyed the 3 days and not forgetting, had a good idea of where MMA would be in the coming years in the Asia region. Only awesomeness coming your way.

One Asia MMA Summit 2013

This coming Thursday, I and a few others would be making our way to Marina Bay Sands Resort and Casino for the One Asia MMA Summit 2013, happening on May 2 till May 4. This is all thanks to One Fighting Championship (ONE FC) as they are holding this summit for the ever growing MMA sports in the Asia region.

ONE FC Asia MMA Summit 2013

Now this Summit has a whole lot to say about MMA and its industry, so much so that they would have people from YouTube to even give a talk about how audience is built in this digital age. Not forgetting, there would be special guest coming in to give a talk about their brother, a legend, known worldwide, Bruce Lee. Yes that is right, his siblings, Robert and Phoebe Lee, would be at the Summit to speak about their brother. There would also be keynote speeches from the CEO of ONE FC, Victor Cui, that I would be looking forward to.

I have much expectations from this coming Summit, as this would be my first summit, about MMA, a growing and evolving sport in Asia. What more, it is a sport that I have grown to like with its fast pace action.

I too would like to know more about how MMA would continue to grow in the Asia region as its brother in the USA is growing really strong.

Now, stay tuned to www.onefc.com or their Twitter account @ONEFCMMA and also their Facebook for updates about the event officially.

I shall be there on the ground as well, attending the event, and giving updates from my side from time to time.

Till then,

Elwyn

ADV: WeChat Launch

Yes that is right, WeChat had an official launching on the 2nd of April in Neverland with a whole lot of goodies and a whole lot of people attending too. It was truly an awesome way to catch up with some old friends and meet new ones.

20130407-232841.jpg

I would say I won some stuff like an iPad, but I didn’t win it. I won a cd album of which I am totally not a fan of. So I might just simply throw it or give it to someone who may be interested in it. Spot me in the photo below :)

20130407-232904.jpg

Now the event was to showcase how WeChat is different from the rest and truly it is with its voice messaging. Tap and hold and speak all you want, and finally release. Definitely takes the ease out of typing out the words on your phone. What more with more and more people driving while texting.

The launch itself was a huge success, with a huge turn out and with great performances by some local artist.

20130407-232917.jpg

Now, the event itself was emceed by Rudy who was formerly from Hitz.fm but since long been forgotten as he disappeared. Only to reappear on this fateful night. He certainly doesn’t look like how he used to be and was difficult to recognize him with all those facial hair and the long hair.

20130407-232858.jpg

And all these lovely pictures were thanks to the super duper awesome Jennifer Fur Fer. She blogs at www.iamfurfer.com and you can read all about her and how she experienced the event that we both went for.

20130407-232852.jpg

Now each of us were given a goodie bag at the entrance, and it was a hassle to carry it around, so I decided to leave on the floor next to the table. Only to find it stolen by the end of the night. Now whats in the goodie bag you say, well there is a cute little plushie of the WeChat mascot. Super cute, but I ain’t got one. Very sad indeed.

20130407-232911.jpg

Now looking at the event. The event is actually to launch the new localized commercial featuring Lisa Surihani and Shaheizy Sam as the ambassadors here in Malaysia. You gotta check them out.

Now are you gonna give it WeChat a try? Because I have and I am liking it thus far. Download it now to your phone.
