Movie Review: Easy A

I don’t really remember if Easy A was screened in Malaysian cinemas, but I knew I had to watch it.

Here is a plot summary from IMDb written by The Massie Twins.

High school student Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) finds herself the victim of her school’s “rumor mill” when she lies to her best friend Rhiannon (Alyson Michalka) about a weekend tryst with a fictional college freshman. Word quickly spreads of Olive’s promiscuity and, much to her surprise, she welcomes the attention. When she agrees to help out a bullied friend by pretending to sleep with him, her image rapidly degrades to a more lascivious state and her world begins to spin out of control. As she helps more and more of her classmates and her lies continue to escalate, Olive must find a way to save face before the school’s religious fanatic Marianne (Amanda Bynes) gets her expelled and she loses a shot at attaining her own happiness.

Easy A is a movie that I would like to watch again.  It is not only for the beautiful upcoming star, Emma Stone, but also the wonderful sarcasm that is imbued in the script.

I would love to say that Emma played her role as Olive so well with all the sarcasm and the way she plays the role really tickles me up (or maybe I just like her for her looks).  There are a whole lot of sarcasm in the movie and she is like a genius at throwing them out in the open.

But this is the same for the rest of her family in the movie~!

Her parents played by Stanley Tucci as her father and Patricia Clarkson as her mother.  They gave such a nice punch to the movie with lines after lines of sarcasm (maybe I am addicted to sarcasm – especially if its not towards me).  They gave Easy A a nice kick to it with the conversation about sexuality and sex.

And what is a movie without the male lead to sweep the star of the show, off her feet, none other than the character Todd played by Penn Badgley who would be well known in the TV series Gossip Girls.  Though he did not appear much in the movie, but during when he was on screen, he did his best to make an impact, but still fall short under Emma’s shadows.  He would certainly be a eye candy for the ladies and girls in the movie, especially when he is the Blue Devil~!

Now now, wouldn’t you wanna catch it as well?  Hahaha, well I like it~!  And I believe that those who loves sarcasm, then this is a movie to watch.

Now onto the next movie with me~! Huhuhu~!

Catching Cupid~?!

Catching cupid was the deed, Cupid Catch was the name~!

Huge shout out to Fly FM for having this on the 19th of February.

I attended the one that was held at 1 Utama and not the one in Sunway Pyramid.  Yes they were having the Cupid Catch at two locations simultaneously.  Zher from Fly FM was broadcasting from 1 Utama while Prem was from Sunway Pyramid.

At 1 Utama, there were cute angels who were giving out lollipops while there were 50 cupids, dressed in white cupid catch t-shirts with envelopes of Cupid Love Quotes~!

Hunny and Ben from Fly FM were also there to help facilitate the event.  It was certainly a fun event to play.  Of course I got there slightly later than the starting time with me arriving approximately 2.25 at the scene of the crime.

Catching cupid was certainly a great way to move around solo doing some silly things as well.  Such as trying to finish a dam lollipop in 30 seconds, with the wrapper still on.  Of course I had to literally bite the wrapper off and doing some “break” dancing trying to get the lollipop off the stick and doing my best to chew it down.

I was sooooo close in finishing that challenge but fortunately the cupid was very kind and still gave me a love quote despite me not finishing the task in time.  The lollipop was a tad too sweet for me to chew down in one go and decided to spit it into the dustbin (I seriously did not want to get diabetic).

Another two cupids asked me to shout “I LOVE FLY FM”, and they told me to do it loudly, and before they could complete that sentence, I was shouting  it, OUT LOUD~! They were shocked and gave me a Cupid Love Quote each before I headed to the booth to submit my collection.

This is sadly broken by the fact that the winner was already chosen before I could reach the booth.

It simply wasn’t my luck, but I know I did my best, not to run and banging people over in the crowded 1 Utama.

There were 6 sessions, and I was from the 3rd session onwards.  In between each session, I would tweet about the Cupid Catch, seeing if there are anyone who would join me in the seemingly impossible feat of winning  RM2,000.

Not long after the countless tweets I posted, Chloe aka @sweetmiyuko88 whom I just met and got to know on the same day came by to join for the last session of the Cupid Catch contest.  Of course it was to no avail even with the help of one of the cupid who is a really friendly person.

Overall it was fun, and Chloe got a chance to take a picture together with Zher from Fly FM.  And my first impression about Zher, well she is really skinny~!  But great voice though.  Respect to that~!

Women : 100 – Life Sdn Bhd 6 : Abuse

Where is this ? ?

Where am I ?

A picture with Red Mummy ~?!

Where am I, what am I doing, and ….

Whats with the title of Women : 100 and Life Sdn Bhd 6 : Abuse ? ?

Its pretty simple actually.  It is the 100th celebration of International Women’s Day 2011 and in conjunction with this major event, Tandemic and Kakiseni presents MANifesto.my – the social media campaign for Women : 100.  It is the campaign platform that celebrates the triumphs of women and champions their issues through the performing arts.

And as for the location, well, it is located at the rooftop of Lot 10, where the Actors Studio @ Lot 10 is located.

The reason why I was there because I was there to watch a performance by the Life Sdn Bhd 6 : Abuse and thats where the title came from.  It is heart filled and emotional performance that touches on the issue of abuse.  Be it physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and even sexual abuse.  These are the stories of the survivors, and those close to them.

The cast did a wonderful job in conveying the stories, their stories and the stories of those close to them.

For me, the performance actually stirred my emotions and my thoughts.  It left an aftertaste that, I can’t wrap my head around, but I do know that it was worth the time.  Please do not ask me about it because I am not keen on sharing this at the moment.

The performance lasted a wonderful 90 minutes.  And I would like for everyone to have a chance to watch this performance.

Now, to watch this performance, all you need to do is head over to Kakiseni and book your ticket.  The ticket price?  Well, as it was announced, it is FREE~!  So do book your ticket for the wonderful and emotional performance.

And as part of the Women : 100, please drop by MANifesto.my to sign the pledge there.  Read it and support it.  And don’t forget to share it among your friends as well~!

You can also follow Women : 100 on Facebook.

Or even follow them on twitter or search for “kakisenitweets” on twitter.

I do hope that you do your part in helping this MANifesto campaign.  And share it with others~!

But now, head on over to Kakiseni to get your tickets for Life Sdn Bhd 6 : Abuse ~!!!!
